All new freshman, new non-traditional students, and transfer students entering the University without transfer credit in English will be placed into the appropriate level of English through the English Placement Test. This test consists of a 40-minute writing sample. ACT/SAT I scores cannot be used for English placement. However, the SAT II Writing Test for Composition is acceptable for determining placement (the SAT II Writing Test for Literature is not).

Students MUST bring a pen AND a pencil as well as a picture ID to the test. All tests begin promptly at the time stated. Please note that this test must be taken before you are advised and before you register for any English, math, or science courses. Also, please take the earliest test you can. There will be NO more tests after the test listed below.
