Retained Instructor Nancy Dixon received her BA and MA at UNO in 1988 and 1991, respectively. She then went on to LSU where she received her PhD in 1995. Since then she has been a full-time instructor of English at UNO. In 2000, her book Fortune and Misery, Sallie Rhett Roman of New Orleans, a Biographical Portrait and Selected Fiction, 1891-1920 (LSU Press) won the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities (LEH) “Book of the Year” award. In 2002, Dr. Dixon was elected to the Modern Language Association (MLA) Delegate Assembly as a Special Interest (Instructor) Delegate. In 2003, she was honored with the Award for Excellence in the Teaching Writing at the Freshman Level. Dr. Dixon serves on a number of English department committees and is also serving her second term on the university-wide Faculty Council Committee for Student Affairs. |
