Visiting Assistant Professor Richard Goodman grew up in Virginia and Michigan. He lived in New York City for thirty years, observing that city as it went through more changes than Kafka’s beetle. In New York, he taught at Queens College and at Pace University. He also spent a year as an Associate Editor in the Reference Department at Random House, which should, under all the rules of fiction, make an ideal backdrop for a comic novel. That might only be outdone by the three years he worked as a landscape gardener in Manhattan allowing him access to many of the penthouses and brownstones he had theretofore only gazed at longingly. He has also taught creative nonfiction for the last nine years at Spalding University’s low residency MFA in writing program in Louisville, Kentucky.
