MS. JOANNA LEAKE

Professor and Director of Creative Writing
MFA, SUNY at Buffalo, 1976

Joanna Leake was born and raised in Baton Rouge, LA. She graduated magna cum laude from Vassar College and received a Master of Arts in the Humanities from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She is professor of English, teaches fiction and screen writing, and serves as Director of the UNO Creative Writing Workshop. Publications include A Few Days in Weasel Creek (1980) and short stories in the Intro anthology, Cultural Vistas, Xavier Review, and Louisville Review. The screen adaptation of her novel appeared on television as a movie of the week. Two textbooks, co-authored with James Knudsen, What It Takes and What It Takes II, have been published by Addison, Wesley, Longman. Since 2001, she has served as editor of Bayou, UNO's national literary magazine.
