DR. ELIZABETH STEEBY Assistant Professor , Elizabeth Steeby earned her Ph.D. in Literature from the University of California, San Diego, with a specialization in U.S. Southern Studies. A native Mississippian, Elizabeth is thrilled to be teaching in the South, and to be in New Orleans in particular. Her current interests include: the modernization of the plantation, prison cultures and contemporary prison activism, man's making of "natural" disasters, and the intersections of queer politics and social justice movements. She also seeks cornerstore wisdom on the topics of levees and drainage systems, rap mixtapes, pedestrian architectures, and reckoning vs. revelation. |
